Before pixels, prompts, and generative tools, there was a zinc plate, acid, ink, pressure, and time.
Created in 2000 as part of my graduation work at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Printed Designs, this piece was produced using traditional intaglio zinc etching. The image was drawn and etched into a zinc plate through an acid process, then inked and printed by hand.
Only 10 original impressions were produced.
Looking back more than two decades later, the work feels less like an archive and more like a starting point — an early exploration of light, shadow, texture, composition, and atmosphere that continues to shape the way I approach images today.
The tools changed. The craft remained.
